In the “Meet the Emoji” introductory video, your child is introduced to “TeacherSidekick” and her “student”. Your child will follow along with the student (no worksheet required) as they are exposed to various strategies to practice the focus sound and connect the “emoji friend” to the letters and sound it represents. The next 3 videos exhibit evidence-based practices without the “fluff”, including systematic phonics instruction, connecting irregular sounds to sight words, applying the focus sound to new words, phoneme segmenting, sound boxes, methodical sentence writing, and mindful reading. Math skills are intertwined with each lesson to keep a constant review of essential mathematics concepts. Teachers and parents are encouraged to use the videos in the order you choose to teach the sounds. If a different irregular sound is used in the video, students are supported as the video provides scaffolding strategies.
